Research into surface, texture, construction and material processes, with an interest in the relationship between contemporary making, fashion history and heritage.

CULTURAL NARRATIVES

Exploring fashion histories, cultural traditions, archival references and collective narratives through contemporary design and making.

EDUCATION

Developing workshops, masterclasses, educational resources and participatory projects that make creative and technical knowledge accessible to different audiences.

RESEARCH & WRITING

Writing, publishing and research form an integral part of the practice, examining fashion, pattern cutting, making and the relationship between creative thinking and technical knowledge.

Pattern Cutting Deconstructed

Pattern Cutting Deconstructed is an ongoing creative and educational practice founded by Monisola Omotoso.

The practice challenges conventional approaches to pattern cutting, encouraging experimentation with form, proportion, draping, construction, material and the relationship between two-dimensional pattern and three-dimensional body.

Pattern Cutting Deconstructed has developed educational resources, workshops and digital content and has built a community of 50K+ followers on Instagram.
